Employers are often overwhelmed with hundreds of resumes for each position advertised.  They are not in the business to interview candidates for a living.  They are in business to make money and get a job done.  They do not want to fully read hundreds of resumes and they certainly do not have time to contact and interview tons of candidates.  Since there may be over a hundred applicants for a listed position, employers generally only scan a resume for key information from each resume.  This makes it essential that your resume stand out enough to be selected for an interview.
